About the Reserve

Nestled in the foothills of the Eastern Himalayas, Nameri National Park is a spectacular biodiversity hotspot in Assam. Bordering Arunachal Pradesh, this scenic park is defined by semi-evergreen forests, moist deciduous woodlands, and the sparkling Jia Bhoroli River running through it. Unlike many other parks, Nameri encourages guided nature trails, allowing visitors to trek through the jungle and experience wilderness up close. It is a haven for significant elephant populations as well as leopards, sambar deer, and the elusive tiger. The park is especially revered by ornithologists for harboring the endangered white-winged wood duck and numerous other avian species. Adventure seekers flock to Nameri to indulge in thrilling river rafting on the Jia Bhoroli or serene angling trips. Blending active wildlife exploration with serene river landscapes, Nameri offers a truly immersive nature escape in Assam.
