Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh is one of the most sacred cities in Central India, home to the Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga. However, a "circuit" trip, like the Char Dham or the Buddhist Circuit, typically spans 10 to 15 days due to the travel time between remote locations. Planning your trip with enough buffer time is crucial, especially in mountain regions where road blocks are common. This allows for a more contemplative experience rather than a rushed tour of holy sites.

Respecting local traditions is paramount. Most temples require visitors to remove footwear before entering and dress modestly, typically covering shoulders and heads if needed. Some orthodox shrines in South India may require traditional attire like dhotis or sarees. Always maintain silence within the sanctum, avoid photography unless explicitly permitted, and follow the unidirectional flow of devotees. It is also customary to make a small donation or offering ("Prasad"), but this is never mandatory.
