Temple History

Shravanabelagola is an important Jain pilgrimage destination located in Karnataka and is famous for the colossal statue of Lord Bahubali. The statue stands over 57 feet tall and is carved from a single block of granite on the top of Vindhyagiri Hill. Pilgrims and travelers climb hundreds of stone steps to reach the statue and experience breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. The site is especially significant during the Mahamastakabhisheka festival, a grand religious ceremony held once every twelve years where the statue is ceremonially anointed with sacred offerings. With its historic temples and spiritual heritage, Shravanabelagola remains one of the most sacred Jain pilgrimage sites in India.
