About the Reserve

Nokrek National Park, situated in the verdant West Garo Hills of Meghalaya, is a UNESCO-designated Biosphere Reserve renowned for its incredible, untouched biodiversity. The park is most famous as one of the few remaining havens for the elusive and highly endangered Red Panda. Its diverse forested landscape, ranging from lush tropical to subtropical vegetation, also supports a variety of rare flora, including the Citrus Indica (Memang Narang), considered the mother of all citrus fruits. Wildlife enthusiasts can spot Asian elephants, hoolock gibbons, stump-tailed macaques, and clouded leopards prowling through the dense canopy. The challenging terrain, filled with pristine streams, hidden waterfalls, and rugged limestone formations, makes it perfect for adventurous trekkers seeking an off-the-beaten-path experience. Promising absolute tranquility and unspoiled nature, Nokrek National Park is an extraordinary ecological treasure waiting to be explored by serious nature and wildlife aficionados.
