Nathmal Ki Haveli serves incredibly as a spectacular testament to the brilliant craftsmanship of ancient Jaisalmer. Specifically commissioned heavily to be the luxurious residence of the Diwan (Prime Minister) Mohata Nathmal in 1885, its absolutely unique construction was famously spearheaded by two deeply competitive architect brothers, Lulu and Hathi. Remarkably, each brother completely worked independently on opposite sides of the massive symmetric building, beautifully resulting in minor irregular yet utterly charming visual differences. The grand entrance is prominently guarded proudly by two spectacularly large, incredibly life-like yellow sandstone elephants.
